The role of women in the self-construction of public space gives meaning to the territorial expression that collective life manifests, as active producers of their work space: they move between the ethical and the political to create the city, they negotiate their roles in the neighborhoods, they are self-constructors of a fixed space of commerce and care in the streets; the eyes that watch and the hands that feed.
They are the basis and inspiration of public policies to improve collective conditions; that include, compensate and support the effort to make a place for themselves in the city and transform the unequal relations of land occupation and property rights.
